I am very lucky, because my mom takes me and her girls on a "Girls Trip" every other year. First trip ever was to Beverly Hills, did a little Rodeo Drive shopping and ate at the Ivy. We've been to Vegas. We've done Sundance. And this last one was the mother ship -
New York City.
We stayed at the ever so lovely and historical, Waldorf Astoria. Equipped with our very own mouse hole. Hahaha. We all arrived very early in the morning. Mom and Jamie flew threw the night. Monica and I early morning. First things first we hit up the town. We ate some Ray's Pizza - which sadly, we picked the wrong one. Because it was nasty.
Amongst shopping, walking around, being a tourist - we did find a fun activity, that probably nobody else will think is funny but us. We rode up and the elevator at the Marriott Marquee, probably a dozen times. There are 48 floors and Jamie's ears were plugged from the plane ride. So naturally your ears pop when you're that high. Even though Monica's and my ears kept popping - Jamie's never did. We were too cheap to have drinks in the lounge on the 48th floor where the floor spins - but we did use their bathroom so we could see the view. :)
One night we went to a Broadway show "Mary Poppins". So good! LOVED IT! And then dinner at Sardie's! That's where they have cartoons of all the famous people that have eaten there, with their autographs. It was very yummy.
Jamie is a Yankee fan, so she was constantly looking at tvs for the score. Monica was determined to let people know she was NOT a Yankee fan but a Sox fan. Mom was searching the streets for celebrity faces and talking to bums on the street. I unfortunately had the stomach flu while we were there, so I was out of it.
This picture was funny because Monica's husband is a Marine Biologist so this was essentially a Marine Biologist made out of legos. So cool.
Lucky for me, my friend since 5th grade, Amanda lives there - so I was able to see her. She's a waitress a cool pub next to the pier. So we went and ate there. It was so New York. We loved it.
Of course on our last day there, as Monica and I were walking back to the hotel to get our bags and head to the airport we came across a movie set. WHAT?! All weekend nothing, and right before we leave there it is in all its glory. Not blocked off, we're able to walk around and even eat at the Kraft table if we want. We didn't see any stars. But we did see them setting up for a crash scene in the middle of Park Ave. Here is a shot of one of the cars filming the crash scene. Mom & Jamie came across it later and actually got to watch them film it.
Last but not least, we went to Central Park. I wish we could have spend more time there, but we had to catch our flights. We got some cute pictures though.
Can't wait to go back.
Thanks, Mom.
